That's life sometimes. Especially life with two children and a full-time job!
I had some great success over the summer, and made it within a few pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight (which had been my lowest weight in about 15 years). And then I traveled for two weeks. I convinced myself that the increased walking each day offset my dietary indulgences - and for the most part, it did. However, upon returning home I kept up the indulgences and went back to normal activity. Which isn't enough.
So here I am. Up several pounds from September, but ready to rock and roll. And this time, I thought, maybe I could use a little help. I recently read about a new supplement that simulates ketosis (not a scientific description, just my understanding) by the inclusion of medium chain triglycerides (the good stuff in coconut oil) and beta-hydroxybutyrate salts. Apparently you can eat carbs but sorta be in ketosis, too. Sound too good to be true? It might be - I'm definitely not endorsing it yet.
My reasons for trying this supplement are twofold. One, I am trying to maximize my weight loss between now and a video recording I have to do for work on December 7. Two, I want to get back to my low carb lifestyle, and I'm curious to see if this can help with the sometimes challenging transition from being a glycogen burner to being a fat burner. So this gives me both a short-term goal and a longer-term focus. The company behind this stuff is doing a multi-level marketing thing, which is NOT my cup of tea. But, I'm keeping an open mind about the product. We'll see. Today's day 1. I stepped on the scale this morning and saw 255.3. Yuck. A few weeks ago I was at 248.6. I want to get below 250 again and keep going. I drank my first dose of this stuff about four hours ago. It tasted pretty good. Sweet, but not overly so. It suggests starting with partial doses to minimize gastro-intestinal side effects, but I jumped in. I've felt pretty clear headed since then, so we'll see. I'll check back in as I have updates! |
